Short description
A well-established tech company (35 people) based in Leipzig is seeking an experienced accountant with strong German language skills to support its day-to-day financial operations. The role focuses mainly on accounts receivable and accounts payable, includes payroll responsibilities and involves close cooperation with the company’s external tax advisor.
You will have a full-time assistant in your small accounting team. This position offers the opportunity to gradually take over full responsibility for the accounting processes from the current senior accountant, who is preparing to retire.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes.
- Process and record 150–200 invoices per month (approx. 60% incoming, 40% outgoing).
- Internal payroll processing.
- Prepare the company’s monthly BWA (business performance report).
- Prepare documentation and data for the annual financial statements (Jahresabschluss), which are finalised by the external tax advisor (Steuerbüro).
- Maintain accounting records in Sage and support related processes in Odoo ERP.
- Collaborate with project managers who prepare the invoices.
- Gradually take ownership of all accounting tasks during the transition period.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in German.
- Practical experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Experience with payroll processing.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of accounting responsibilities.
- Experience using Sage, Odoo, or similar accounting or financial systems.
- Familiarity with German accounting standards and working with external tax advisors (Steuerbüro).

- Experience with financial controlling or reporting (optional, higher compensation possible)

Salary
- ~€50,000 per year (depending on experience).
